12 Horses dinner plates by Creil & Montereau 19th century

12 assiettes in white earthenware decorated with colored Horse Show scenes represeting eventing horses with costumed riders, such as Clows, Athletes or Bedouins doing performances. Horses are designed in the very 19th century style, accordingly to famous and distinguished horses painted by Alfred de Dreux or Theodore Gericault.
Each plate has a numbered pattern with a little explicative caption on the front. At the back, they're stamped with the Creil & Montereau mark between 1840-1876 "Leboeuf, Millet & Cie".
This horses pattern was the favorite one of the humorist Don Rickles.

Good condition. 20.5 cm diameter.

Creil & Montereau was a French earthenware manufactory created in 1840 with the fusion of two rival firms: Creil (created in 1774) and Montereau (created in 1745). This earthenware (and porcelain) manufactory was famous for its technique of engraved image decal and for having produced the famous "Rousseau" Service after Felix Bracquemond engravings.
