  • Herend FODO Forains d'Orient

A pair of cups created in Vienna, Austria in the early 19th century inspired the FODO pattern. Initially, European porcelain pieces were copied on their far-east eastern model which used patterns for their symbolic meaning. Otherwise, European counterparts eventually used them purely for decorative purposes.
This FODO is a perfect example of this adaptation, depicting oriental characters, exotic birds, dragons and plants on a gold-speckled background. This collection is hand-painted and hand-gilded with 24 K gold.
