Scenes are inspired by the french book "Vingt Mille Lieues sous les mers" (* "Twenty thousand leagues under the seas") by Jules Verne, published in 1869-70 by Pierre-Jules Hetzel. Patterns of the 6 plates: swordfish, eel, blue fish, flying fish, red mullet, pike-perch.
