In the early 19th century in Vienna, Austria, a pair of cups gave rise to the FODO pattern, later renamed Asian Garden. Initially inspired by oriental designs, this motif was transformed by European craftsmen into a veritable work of decorative art. Herend, renowned for its luxury porcelain, has reimagined these motifs in its own artistic style. The FODO pattern reveals oriental scenes sumptuously adorned with gilding, oriental figures, exotic birds and lush vegetation. This collection brilliantly illustrates the influence of Chinese art and design on 19th-century Europe.
