Created by Amédée de Caranza (1843–1914), these plates depict beautiful scenes of humanised mice dressed in refined landscapes. The meticulous compositions, such as cherry blossoms and aquatic plants, attest to the quality of the craftsmanship typical of the Japonais style of the Vieillard factory in Bordeaux in the 19th century.
A plate from this series is on display at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Bordeaux, highlighting their historical and artistic value. This collection is referenced in du Pasquier's book. These are treasures for any lover of 19th-century art or collector of oriental-inspired ceramics. Two of these plates have undergone minor, barely visible restoration work.
