This piece belongs to the long tradition of the Schoonhoven workshops, the famous “Silver City,” whose silversmiths upheld an exceptional craftsmanship from the 17th century until its decline in the 1970s. Proud of its heritage, Schoonhoven still today is home to an active guild, a museum dedicated to silver, and the only silversmithing school in the Netherlands.
