Hand-painted, this service in excellent condition reflects the great craftsmanship of the Limoges workshops at the end of the 19th century. Against a deep midnight-blue background of remarkable richness, the birds are rendered with striking finesse and naturalism. The grasses and cherry blossoms are created using a reserve technique, allowing the natural whiteness of the porcelain body to show through, and are highlighted with fine touches of gold.
A beautiful demonstration of porcelain painting techniques, enhanced by a palette of rare intensity.
